Visiting Professor Position for English Language – Pusan National University

The Institute of Liberal Education

 

The Institute of Liberal Education at Pusan National University (PNU) invites a qualified candidate for a visiting professor position in non-tenure track English Language. The start date is March 1, 2026.

 

Number of openings : 2

 

Qualifications

Candidates are required at least 4 years of qualified teaching* or research experience. All applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or higher. All must be native speakers of English** with a valid Korean visa***.

* Qualified teaching years will be counted as follows: 100% of any experiences as a full time (visiting) professor at an accredited University. 60% of any experiences as a full time (visiting) professor at an unaccredited university. 50% of experiences as University instructor. 40% of high school and below teaching experiences. Application process

There are two steps. The submitted documents will be considered by December 12th, 2025 and only the applicants who are selected for getting an interview will be notified individually.

The interview will be conducted on December 19th, 2025. The type of interview will be a demonstration lecture and personal interview. It will be within 30 mins in total.

 

Responsibilities

1. The employee will teach at least 12 credit-hours per semester. (Exceeding 12 credit hours, extra fees will be paid)    

2. The employee may be required to teach classes during the summer and winter breaks. (extra fees will be paid)

3. The employee must also participate in department activities.


Contract period

The contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

 - March 1, 2026 ~ February 28, 2027

 

Salary

Bachelor degree holders will be paid 2.3 million won each month of the 12-month contract, for a total of 27.6 million won (before applicable taxes and other deductions).

Master degree holders will be paid 2.4 million won each month of the 12-month contract, for a total of 28.8 million won (before applicable taxes and other deductions).

Doctorate degree holders will be paid 2.5 million won each month of the 12-month contract, for a total of 30.0 million won (before applicable taxes and other deductions).

 

Housing

- On-campus housing

The employee may be provided with on-campus housing at Sangnam International House (SIH) or at the University Dormitory (condominium type room), if accommodation is available.

The monthly accommodation fee for SIH is approximately 660,000KRW. The university is responsible for 560,000KRW, and the employee shall pay the remaining balance. The employee shall cover all utility expenses, including telephone, gas, electricity, TV and etc.

The monthly accommodation fee for the dormitory is approximately 730,000KRW. The university is responsible for 560,000KRW, and the employee shall pay the remaining balance. Any additional expenses, such as those arising from excessive electricity usage, shall also be borne by the employee.

- Off-campus housing

PNU may provide the employee with financial support for employee's off-campus housing within the budget. The monthly housing allowance shall not exceed 300,000KW per month.

 

Employment insurance

The employee may join in Employment Insurance, based on the Employment Insurance Law of the Republic of Korea. The Insurance fee will be deducted from the employee’s regular pay each month. (Insurance for F5 visa or F6 visa holders is obligatory.)


Airfare

At the end of the final contract period, the employee shall be provided a one-way ticket (economy class) from Korea to the employee’s choice of any destination. The ticket should be purchased within 30 days from the expiration date of the final contract.


Vacation days

The employee will earn a minimum of 8 weeks of paid vacation in total (4 weeks during the summer, 4 weeks during the winter). The vacation schedule must be coordinated with the department chair to accommodate department needs during the break.
