The Korean Studies Institute was established to promote Korean studies through the application of human sciences and social sciences approaches to Korea folk culture. The institute also aims to maintain the traditional ethnic identity of the Korean people with a view to contributing to the country’s reunification. It is currently working on the Humanities Korea Project.

○ Collect, translate, and publish information on Korean culture and ethnic issues
○ Host seminars, open lectures, and special lectures on Korean culture and ethnic issues
○ Operate “Humanities of Locality” Project, the Humanities Korea Project
○ Conduct research and publish collected papers to solve local issues
○ Conduct research and publish papers related to the reunification of Korea
○ Undertake cooperation and exchanges with diverse domestic and foreign organizations
