The PNU Institute of Humanities Research was established on June 1998 as part of an effort to raise the humanistic values comparatively neglected in the area of research and education, and reestablish such values through the revitalization of humanities – the root of all science – amidst the social atmosphere of the times which focus on research centered on practical science. Furthermore, its establishment is carried out with the intent of providing space and grounds for research activities from school systems to researchers of Eastern and Western literature, philosophy, and historical science, which have a poor environment for communicating their research.
This research institute aims to contribute to the understanding and promotion of human culture and improvement of the quality of education through comprehensive academic studies on the theory and practice of major humanistic issues. Its specific goal and projects are as follows:
1) Academic Studies on Humanities
2) Survey, discovery, and utilization of research materials
3) Hosting of academic lecture meetings & research presentation meetings
4) Discovery of collection of learned papers & planned books
5) International academic exchange and exchange & cooperation with other research institutions
6) Other projects suitable for the purpose of the research institute
