Opening a New Chapter in the Promotion of Humanities Study
The College of Humanities was founded in 1946, as the School of Humanities. With a rich history of more than 60 years, it is currently leading the development of humanities and basic studies, such as language, literature, and philosophy, in cooperation with the Center for Korean Studies, the Institute of Humanities Research, and the Institute of Jeompil-jae. In the analysis of data on college information conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2008, PNU's College of Humanities opened a new chapter in humanities study by taking first place among colleges at four-year universities in Korea in terms of the number of dissertations per faculty member published in the academic periodicals designated by the Korea Research Foundation or listed on SCI (1.56). The college not only seeks to develop new scholastic methodologies with the top tier faculty and state-of-the-art education environment, but also provides practical education based on a solid theoretical basis.
